Mehandi & Sangeet
Mehandi ceremony is celebrated 2 days before wedding day. Mehendi or Henna (paste of grounded henna leaves) is applied on Bride’s hands as a good omen. Floral, and designs depicting symbol of love are drawn on hands and feet. Bride gets the henna designs applied on hands almost till elbow and on legs till knee length as per the personal choice. Henna lasts for 1 or 2 weeks. This is a ceremony for ladies. All the ladies also gets the henna applied on their hands. Pakistani, Arabic and Indian designs are in demand. There are 2-3 professional henna artists available to apply the henna on every one’s hand with a cone. With this process, songs representing love and various relations are also played along with dance among girls and ladies. Couple’s journey is also represented in the form of skits and mimicry by the close friends and relatives of the bride.
